XTRA Lease ordered approximately 9,000 new trailers for 2015. The company is adding a mix of dry vans, liftgated vans, reefers, flatbeds and chassis, according to its announcement. New trailers will arrive at each of the company’s 53 rental locations throughout the year. As with recent XTRA Lease purchases, all 53-ft. vans and reefers will receive fuel-saving aerodynamic side skirts, low-rolling resistance tires and trailer tracking units to help fleets attack utilization and costs, the company said.

“While capacity remains tight, driven largely by today’s driver shortage, we’re continuing to invest in new trailers to provide fleets options for acquiring equipment,” said Bill Franz, XTRA Lease president and chief executive officer. “New equipment offers many advantages. Our specs include the latest technology to help save fuel, provide protection against costly damages and prevent maintenance downtime.”
