March Class 8 truck orders were 27,400 units, which is the 4th consecutive month of strong orders, and reaffirms that OEMs will need to start to inch up production rates. While Class 8 orders have been very strong, medium-duty truck orders remain consistent. The Class 8 backlog is expected to be up 4% or so, while the medium-duty backlog may be flattish to down slightly. Thus, while the Class 8 and trailer markets remain robust, the medium-duty market is solid, but not quite as good.
