34-hour restart suspension included in omnibus spending bill

Time running short, Republicans and Democrats agreed Tuesday night on a $1.1 trillion spending bill to avoid a government shutdown and delay a politically-charged struggle over President Barack Obama’s new immigration policy until the new year.

The Associated Press reported late Tuesday night that the provision offered by Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, to suspend the 34-hour restart provision was included in the final bill.
