The Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles, Inc. (COSTHA) is a dynamic and responsive industry association devoted to the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods.

COSTHA represents a wide variety of shippers, carriers, manufacturers, trade associations, training companies, and related businesses and associations responsible for more than $3 trillion in international commerce.

While our member companies continue to face economic pressures, rising fuel costs, and unparalleled global competition, we continue to work hard for domestic and international regulatory harmonization, uniform enforcement, and the review and realignment of regulations based on risk during transport.

Our primary goal is to represent and protect the interests of COSTHA members at international forums such as the UN Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods ( UNSCOE / UNTDG ), as well as domestic groups and governmental agencies such as Interested Parties Group, PHMSA, DOT, USCG, FRA, FAA, FMCSA, and others.

COSTHA staff enjoys an ongoing dialog with government agency personnel based on mutual respect and shared goals.

Our mission is clear and focused on helping our members comply with all regulations for the safe transportation of hazardous materials/dangerous goods, as well as upcoming dangerous goods legisltation. We’re also working to encourage professional development and high standards for all individuals working in the HazMat industry.
