Hey boss, I’m outta here: Why 21% of workers plan to leave their jobs in 2016

slide5-750xx720-405-0-68Employers: expect a bit of a shakeup at your work site in 2016, as 21 percent of employees plan to look for greener pastures.

A CareerBuilder survey found that one in five employees are pledging to leave their current employers in 2016, which is a 5 percent increase since last year, when 16 percent said they were looking for new jobs in the New Year.

It gets even worse, the younger the worker, the more apt they are to leave. Three in 10 employees age 18 to 34 expect to have a new job by the end of 2016, compared with 23 percent last year.

That’s not even counting the 34 percent of employees who regularly search for job opportunities, a 4-point increase from last year’s survey.

“Just because a person is satisfied with their job doesn’t necessarily mean they aren’t looking for new work,” said Rosemary Haefner, chief human resources officer at CareerBuilder.
